Managing Driving Risk |
It has been estimated that up to a third of all road traffic accidents involve somebody who is at work at the time. This may account for over 20 fatalities and 250 serious injuries every week. Some employers mistakenly believe that it’s enough to just to comply with road traffic laws, such as company vehicles having a valid MOT certificate and drivers holding a valid licence, to ensure the safety of their employees when they are on the road. But Health and safety law applies to all driving for work activities – whether driving as part of the sales team or just going out for the office sandwiches - Employers need to effectively manage those risks using the appropriate management system. Your drivers may be hundreds of miles away - but ‘duty of care’ remains with you! |
